Fann Wong and Christopher Lee
This post is on my idol Fann Wong’s wedding preparation show (芳心有李). Reasons for sharing this is for all of you to feel their happiness and most importantly, in the videos above, you can see how non-verbal communication is at work in their relationship. At 3 minute 50 second, Fann made use of vocalies (sound other than words) which is a part of paralinguistic; when they talk about what they quarrel over that cause them to have a cold war for two months . Through this we can also see that non-verbal communication is receiver-oriented and subjective because only Christopher knew which incident she is talking about.
While Christopher is talking about his mother at 6 minute 56 second, Fann could see that Christopher is starting to tear through oculesics (the study of non-verbal meaning associated with the eyes). Indeed “eyes are the windows to the soul”.
Similarly, the way they hold hands where they crossed their fingers together at part two also tell us through haptics (the study of touch in communication) that they are deeply in love. Christopher also mentioned a good point in part two 2 minute 23 second, whereby he can feel how happy Fann is through the way she held his hand on the day of their engagement. These are forms of haptics in non-verbal communication.
Their relationship is mostly formed based on similarity where both of them were actors and they work in an almost similar environment. However, they do not have attitudinal similarity as they have different characters and they come from different countries. In the course of the relationship, Christopher started to like Japanese food due to Fann’s influence (social preference similarity), it is seen is part two of the video.
Hope you have enjoyed the video and feel the sense of happiness they have in anticipation to 29 September (their wedding day!).

Yes. They are indeed a lovely couple!
Many times in life, people need not communicate through verbal means. There are always other ways to translate your feelings to others in terms of body language.
Just like one would laugh heartily at a joke and tears when they watch a touching movie/drama. Through a stare or concerned eyes, you would feel their emotions towards you. Words need not always be spelt out in certain circumstances and that’s what unique as the non-verbal actions would only understood between the two individuals.
^^
I agree with you that sometimes actions and expressions carries more weight than words. Somtimes, words just could not describe the kind of feeling that you are experiencing at the instance or moment.
They are so sweet!!! Through their body language and ways they treat each other its is really obvious that they are very in love with each other.
Through Fann recommendation, both of them love Japanese food and this makes me think of people who are in relationship and they get more similar over time.
Yeah, I am expecting their wedding on 29 Sept.
I think they are now the greatest news in Singapore. Most couples become more similar but i do see some who see more differences between each other and in the end leading to break ups. Well, it is all depends on how couples learn to embrace difference between themselves to keep the relationship going.
PERFECT COUPLE!
I think that even when a couple is having almost the same career, there can still be a difference in opininons and thus, communication is very important, be it verbal or non-verbal.
Socialisation of each party also plays quite an important part in affecting the communication og both parties.
I agree with your views on oculesics and haptics:)
comment on my blog too yea!

Yap agree perfect couple. There is difference even if the couple is very similar in many aspects. i believe with effective communication, all problems can be iron out even if you all are way too different. Ya i commented yours!
I am not a big fan of them but I think they are quite sweet and their relationship have lasted a long time. I think their relationship is more than ten years? I am not very sure. Thanks i learnt a lot of communication concepts like haptics and oculesics in your blog although I am not a communication student.
Yes they are sweet. I think more than ten years since they are being rumoured as being together. I am glad that you learnt something through reading my post.
Seems like everyone have been following on the marriage of these two famous star of mediacorp. I think non-verabl communication is important other than just the spoken words because people can say things that they do not mean and vice versa. For non-verbal communication through oculesis like eye contact it is very difficult for people to deceive others. Hence i think both verbal and non-verbal communication should work together to promote effective communication with everyone not just couples.
Yes eyes is the window to all soul, i agree strongly that people can lie through what they say but the look in the eyes is very difficult to do. This is especially so when you are suppose to lie when one look at you in the eye. Also, communication is only a whole with both verbal and non-verbal communication.
They are different and similar in their characters or family background and career so it is very difficult to tell if their relationship is foemed based on similarities or difference. However, no matter what they still became husband and wife despite the diferences. Really hope that they are having a blissful marriage till they are old.
People are attracted to different aspect of a person be it their looks, the way the person speaks, the way they dress, or his character and etc. How people formed relationship can be due to similarities to reduce the unfamilarities that will arise between them or based on differences as it will not be so boring. It all depend on the individuals. They will be blissful cause they are one of the model couple in Mediacorp.
I agree that haptics and oculesics is seen in the videos that you uploaded. Through non-verbal communication there is much more that they have to tell then the acutal words that is being said. Also the point that non-verbal communication is receiver-oriented and subjective is very true as I do not know what they are talking about except themselves.
Thank you for sharing this, I can feel their happiness.
Im glad i allow you to learn something through reading my blog. Agree with you that non-verbal communication actually have carries more weight than verbal communication. There are just some things that words could not express. Thank you for agreeing with me.
